Project history: These developments of the original Holland were intended for port defense, the crews living ashore or aboard tenders.
Modernizations: None.
Naval service: All except Plunger were shipped to the Philippines (1st Submarine Division, Asiatic Torpedo Fleet off Cavite naval base, Luzon) aboard colliers in pairs 1908, 1909 and 1915, ending their careers in the Far East as targets.
