Project history: The JHSV (Joint Hight Speed Vessel) class merged two proposed logistics efforts consisting of the army's theatre support vessel and the navy's high-speed connector to create a joint army-navy program for ships able to conduct rapid intratheatre transport of combat-ready units. Five of the first ten hulls were to have assigned to army, and five to Military Sealift Command. In May 2011 army agreed to transfer its five ships to the navy, which operates them under the MSC with civilian crew. Catamaran hull, aluminium construction. Payload capacity is 635t. The flight deck is enough to operate single CH-53E helicopter. Usable cargo area for vehicles is 1800m². Stern loading ramp is able to support M1A2 Abrams MBT. As the predecessors, these ships have no combat system capabilities other than 4 12.7mm MG.
Modernizations: None.
Naval service: No significant events.
