The docking well is about the size (75x20m) of that on the LPD4 class and can accommodate 2 LCAC or 1 LCU and 14 amphibious assault vehicles. The two-part stern gate covers an opening 23.8m wide by 10.7m high. There are two spots for helicopters of up to CH-53E size. Three AH-1Z or four CH-46E or one CH-53E or two MH-22 can be accommodated in hangar, ship can also support AV-8B Harrier VSTOL attackers. Cargo vilume is 963m³ with 2323m² of vehicle space on three decks and 708m³ of palletized ammunition cargo space. Ship can also has 1007m³ cargo ammunition magazines and 1196m³ tanks for JP-5 aviation fuel and 38m³ for cargo gasoline. Medical facilities include 24 beds, two operating rooms and space for additional 100 casualties. The hull is shaped to reduce radar cross-section, which is said to be 1% of that of the LPD4.
