Project history: A wooden-hulled cruiser with clipper bows, forecastle and poop. She was ship-rigged and the funnel was abaft the foremast. The guns were arranged as in the Iphigénie. Her engines gave considerable trouble on trials.

Modernizations: 1880s: - 2 x 1 - 165/21, 1 - 350 TT; + 2 x 1 - 165/28 M1881

Naval service: No significant events.
