Project history: Built under 1927 programme. Purpose built training ship for midshipmen. To cruisers this ship was referred on formal characteristics, as displacement and artillery calibre. On 3hour trials she reached 27.03kts at 39000hp.

Ship protection: magazines had 20mm box-shaped protection.

Modernizations: 1935: + 4 x 2 - 13.2/76

Naval service: At the moment of armistice Jeanne d`Arc was on Martinique. Under the agreement from 1.5.1942 she was disarmed. After 3.6.1943 Government of Martinique recognised the Algerian Government, cruiser passed to the USA for repair and armed again in May, 1944. Jeanne d`Arc after war served as school ship until 1964.
