Project history: Similar to Friant class differing in details. D`Assas was reported to be distinctly deep in the water and of doubtful stability.
Ship protection: Curved armour deck had a cofferdam above. There was a thin splinter deck over the machinery below main deck. All guns were protected by 50mm shields.
Modernizations: 1918, Du Chayla: - 4 x 1 - 165/45, 4 x 1 - 100/45, 6 x 1 - 47/40, 9 x 1 - 37/20; + 4 x 1 - 75/35 M1897
Naval service: Cassard was attached to gunnery school in 1922-1923, turrets were removed.
