Project history: Former Italian light cruisers of Capitani Romani class, acquired under the Peace Treaty of 1948.

Ship protection: Turrets had 20mm faces, 6mm sides and rears. Bridge had 15mm protection.

Modernizations: (1951-1954), both: were reconstructed with 3 x 2 - 105/65 SK C/33, 5 x 2 - 57/60 Mod 1951, 4 x 3 - 550 TT, DRBV-20A, DRBV-11, DRBC-11, 2x DRBC-30 radars

Naval service: Both were reclassified as destroyers in 1954 and fitted out in the late 1950s as command ships and flotilla leaders.
