Project history: Former USN LCS(L) type landing support craft, large. First five ships were transferred from French Navy, three last served under Japanese flag, returned to USA and transferred to South Vietnam.
Modernizations: None.
Naval service: Three ships were sunk by North Vietnam forces: Nguyễn Van Tru 30.7.1970, Le Trong Dam 3.10.1970 and Le Van Binh 2.10.1966.
