Project history: Authorized under the Act of 3.3.1893. Distinguished by two tall funnels and two masts. Except in the USA she was usually classed as a sloop.
Ship protection: Nashville had 2 102mm guns forward and two aft on the upper deck, and four in main deck sponsons with 64mm protection.
Modernizations: 1910: boilers were replaced by 4 Mosher
1911: - 2 x 1 - 57/50
1914: + 2 x 1 - 57/50 Driggs-Schroeder Mk II/III
1918: Mosher boilers were replaced by 6 Bureau modified Thornycroft boilers.
Naval service: No significant events.
