Project history: Under the FY1925 program the USA built 6 river gunboats for service on Yangtze river in China for protection of American interests.
Modernizations: 1941, both: + 10 x 1 - 7.6/90.
Naval service: Luzon 6.5.1942 was scuttled at Corregidor, salvaged by Japanese and commissioned them as Karatsu. 3.3.1944 she was sunk by American submarine. Mindanao 5.5.1942 was sunk at Corregidor by Japanese aircraft.
