Project history: Replacement of the PB Mk III boats, replacing earlier SWCM and PCM projects. Planned programme of 16 units was stopped in 1991 partly because they were too large.

Modernizations: 1999-2000, Tempest, Zephyr, Shamal; 2009-2010, Hurricane, Monsoon, Squall, Whirlwind, Thunderbolt: were lengthened as PC14 and also received stern ramp for RIB.

2016-2017, some: + 1 x 4 Griffin SSM (4 BGM-176B) (temporarily)
