Project history: Former Italian Dogali. One of first "Elswick" cruisers, bought in 1908.

Ship protection: Ship was protected by 51mm deck, 152mm guns were protected by 114mm shields.

Naval service: By 1914 Montevideo was laid up to reserve, but after WWI commissioned again.
