Project history: Submarine had double-hulled construction at nearly full length, maximal diving depth was 110m. Fuel was stowed mostly in external riveted tanks, only 40.5t was stowed in pressure hull. 2 1200hp diesels from German submarine U126 driven battery-charging generators, these generators may also drive the motors directly achieving 1000hp each. So total surface power could be 8000hp but auxiliary diesels may give only half of their maximal power on maximal propeller shaft revolutions and 1000hp were lost.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: Submarine was laid up in December 1933 owing to severe machinery troubles.
