Project history: The further development of Bridgewater class differed by some increased hull length. One of main guns was double-purpose. Shortly before a beginning of war second gun also was replaced by the mount with the big elevation angle. Under 1929 and 1930 Programmes 8 ships were built, the order for two ships was cancelled.

Naval service: In the beginning of 1945 Rochester was transferred to navigating school as the tender, main guns were landed. Dundee was sunk 15.9.1940 at coast of Ireland by German submarine U48.
