Project history: Repetition of Hindustan but with 120mm main guns. Sloop was arranged for service in tropics. Hull breadth was increased for preservation of stability because of the increased weight of armament.
Modernizations: 1940-1941: - 4 x 1 - 47/40; + 2 x 1 - 20/70 Oerlikon Mk II/IV, 1 x 4 - 12.7/62
Naval service: Indus was bombed by Japanese carrier aircraft 6.4.1942 in Indian Ocean.
