Naval service: Hastings after damage as result of beaching in 1935 a short time used as the fisheries protection vessel (submitted to the Ministry of Trade and formally was not a part of Navy), her armament thus consisted only from one 102/40mm gun. In 1938 Scarborough and Folkestone were disarmed and converted to rescue vessels. Next year they were re-classified to sloops. Penzance was sunk 28.8.1940 by German submarine U37.
