Project history: Wooden-hulled 2nd class gunvessel. Sir William Symonds design, approved in 1845. Similar to iron-hulled Minx but with fuller stern section. Boxer and Biter were ordered in 1846 but cancelled in 1849.
Modernizations: 1848: re-engined with 1 2-cyl VSE, oscillating (128ihp, 7.7kts)
