Project history: "Flower" with considerably increased fuel stowage. They were built in Britain and Canada and differed only by boilers: British-built ships had traditional fire-tube but Canadian-built ships had water-tube ones. All 10 ships built in Britain were transferred to Commonwealth navies. 27 corvettes were built for RCN (under 1942-1943 and 1943-1944 Programmes, the order for 6 ships had cancelled) and, besides, 15 corvettes were built under British order for transfer to the USA by "reverse" lend-lease. By the moment of their completion USN did not feel any more lack in the escorts and commissioned 8 corvettes only (classified as gunboats), remaining ships were returned to RN (besides in lend-lease frameworks, this time direct).
Modernizations: None.
1/1946: 1 x 1 - 102/45 CP Mk I or 1 x 1 - 102/40 CP Mk XXIII, 1 x 1 - 40/39 Mk VIII or 1 x 2 - 20/70 Mk V or 2 x 2 - 20/70 Mk V, 2 x 1 - 20/70 Mk III, 1 x 24 - 178 Hedgehog ASWRL, 4 DCT, 2 DCR (72 - 100), type 271Q or type 273 or type 291 radar, type 144 sonar
Naval service: Trentonian 22.2.1945 was sunk by German submarine U1004. Merrittonia was lost as a result of navigating accident 30.11.1945.
