Project history: These ships were originally intended as fleet anti-submarine escorts with alternately arranged two boiler and two engine rooms. It was originally planned to arm these ships with 3 twin 102mm DP mounts and 50 - 150 DCs but latter and one twin mount ("B" on Battleaxe and Broadsword or "Y" on Crossbow and Scorpion) were replaced by 2 Squids. Scott's Claymore, Dirk, Grenade, Halberd, Poniard, White's Musket were never really laid down.
Modernizations: 1958 - 1959, all 4 completed ships were converted to radar pickets, as given in the table.
