Project history:
Fitted with TE engines built by Maudslay, these White boats had locomotive-type
boilers, and therefore were reboilered a decade or so after completion with
water-tube ones. These boats, having less metacentric height than the
others, were easier in a seaway.
Modernizations: 1900s, all: were reboliered with water-tube boilers.
Naval service: War service was in the Mediterranean and off Gibraltar, where TB96 was sunk in a collision with troop carrier s/s Tringa 1.11.1915.
