Project history: This boat was ordered from Rennie 8.5.1878. On trials she was rejected by the RN as unsatisfactory and sold abroad. Rennie instead built new TB20 as a replacement, which was accepted and purchased by the RN 25.3.1880. However, she ultimately still proved unsuccessful, being much slower than the rest of this batch, and spent most of her life at Hong Kong where she was sold for breaking up in 1903. In 1894 she was reported to be unable to keep up her top speed of 11kts for very long, and her turning powers were very bad.
Modernizations: 1880s: - 1 x 1 - 356 TT; + 2 - 356 TC
