Project history: "Ñà" class development with new DP fire control system (similar to installed on "Battle" class). Because of its big weight one TT bank was necessary to remove and weaken anti-submarine armament. Contest became the first British fully-welded destroyer.

1956, Crescent was converted to type 15 frigate. She has taken fully new silhouette, forecastle was enlarged and new aluminium alloy superstructure fitted. Data became as given in the table.
