Project history: 50-gun 4th rate 32pdr frigate. William Symonds design of 1831, based on lines of 80-gun Gibraltar. Sister-ship Indefatigable was ordered in 1832 but later reordered as a 70-gun ship.

Modernizations: 1840s: - 6 x 1 - 163/18 32pdr 56cwt; + 6 x 1 - 204/13 68pdr 65cwt shell SBML

Naval service: No significant events.
