Project history: 2nd class 24-gun frigate, since 1846 1st class. White design of 1844. Sister-ship Euphrates (lengthened before cancellation to 65.7m pp, 2402t) was cancelled. Termagant was designed as 28-gun ship, but was completed with only 24. Wooden hull.

Modernizations: 1854: re-engined with 1 2-cyl HSE (1206ihp, 10.7kts)

1856: + 1 x 1 - 254/11 10'' 85cwt shell SBML

Naval service: No significant events.
