Project history: 2nd class 24-gun frigate, since 1846 1st class. White design of 1844. Sister-ship Euphrates (lengthened before cancellation to 65.7m pp, 2402t) was cancelled. Termagant was designed as 28-gun ship, but was completed with only 24. Wooden hull.
