Project history: 28-gun 6th rate frigates, later corvettes. Design by the Surveyors of the Navy, approved in 1817. Three more ships, rated as 20-gun sloops following Nimrod, were ordered (Alarma, Daphne and Porcupine) but never started.

Modernizations: 1831, Tweed: as sloop was armed with 18 x 1 - 160/11 32pdr 25cwt SBML carronades, 2 x 1 - 118/14 12pdr SBML

Naval service: No significant events.
