Project history: Box-like shells intended for carrying troops and equipment to be towed or fitted with special out-board motors. Y1-29 and 61-90 were built of steel Y30-60 were built of wood. Another 20 steel barges were built for service in Mesopotamia, these vessels were also dumb and were towed by river craft.
