Project history: Transports for delivery LCM landing craft to landing place. There were LSS, LSG, LSD and LSC types. LSG, laid down as tankers and completed as landing craft carriers, were arranged with two gantry cranes (fwd and aft from the central superstructure) for landing craft launching. Gantries can lift one LCM(1) with 10 t of cargo. Ships can carry up to 3000 t of fresh water additionally.
