Project history: Transports for delivery LCM landing craft to landing place. There were LSS, LSG, LSD and LSC types. LSC (ex-heavy cargo ships), LCMs were stowed on deck and handled by large derricks. Empire Charmian can take up to 30 LCMs on passage and Empire Elaine 26.
