Project history: They were operated by the Army's Royal Corps of Transport, more as ferries than as warships, although they were designed to replace the wartime LCT(8) type. They were unarmed, but can carry five 70t tanks or up to twenty-four standard 20ft containers, plus thirty-four troops.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: No significant events.
