Project history: Original armoured ships built for Danube service. Iron-hulled central battery gunboats. The upper deck was only 48cm over wl.

Ship protection: Machinery was protected by 76mm belt, ship ends had 51mm protection. Battery had 76mm sides.

Modernizations: 1871, all: + 6 x 1 - 76/18 Armstrong 9pdr 9cwt BL

1880, Memduhiye: was armed with 2 x 1 - 76/18 Armstrong 9pdr 9cwt BL

1884, Feth-ül İslam: - 2 x 1 - 160/16, 4 x 1 - 76/18; + 2 x 1 - 178/16 Armstrong 6.5-ton MLR

Naval service: İşkodra and Podgoriçe were captured by Russian troops at Nikopol 16.7.1877 and commissioned by Russian Navy as  Sistovo and Nikopol respectively. Feth-ül İslam was disarmed in 1901.
