Project history: These were the first major warships built in Turkey since before the First World War, and were based on the USN Claud Jones class frigate design. They had a slightly different hull, however, a more powerful armament,different machinery and one large funnel. There was a helicopter pad but no hangar.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: No significant events.
