Project history: First two (MEKO 200TN Track IIA) of planned four ordered in 1990, contract of the second pair of the MEKO 200TN Track IIB design was signed in 1994. The German subsidy for the construction of the second pair was suspended from March to September 1995 because of Turkey's intervention against Kurdish elements in northern Iraq. Two more were on option, to be built one each in Turkey and Germany, but they were canceled in October 1999.
