Project history: Former USN Carpenter-class (specialized ASW version of the Gearing class), received FRAM I modernization in 1962. Both can handle AB.212 helicopter but hangar was too small to accept it.

Modernizations: early 1980s, both: + 1 x 2 - 76/50 Mk 33, 1 x 2 - 35/90 GDM-A, 1 DCR, 4x RBOC decoy RL, T-Mk 6 Fanfare torpedo decoy

early 1990s, Anıttepe: - WLR-1 ECM suite; + Cutlass B1 ECM suite

Naval service: No significant events.
