Project history: Transfer from the United States announced during 2007 and approved in 2010; turnover and recommission took place in August 2012. Monocoque foam-core GRP hull construction, with the design based on that of the Italian Navy Lerici class. Have the SSQ-109 Ship/Machinery Control System and two 400 Hz motor-generator sets. Employ the Alliant SLQ-48(V)2 Mine Neutralization System remote-controlled submersible. Have Paramax SYQ-13 tactical navigation/command and control equipment, which integrates machinery and ship control, the minehunting sonar, the mine neutralization system, inputs from the surface search radar, the precision navigation systems, and various environmental sensors. Other navigation equipment includes WRN-6 GPS terminal and Decca UHN-30 Hyperfix radio navaid. The ships have an Indal 3-drum winch capable of carrying 1,524 m of sweep cable on the main drum and 595 m each on the other drums to stream and tow the SLQ-53 array.
