Project history: Former USN LST type tank landing ships.
Modernizations: (1962-1964), Kao Hsiung as LCC (command ship) received armament and sensors consisted of 2 x 2 - 40/60 Mk 1, 2 x 1 - 40/60 Mk 3, 2 x 1 - 20/70 Mk 10, 4 x 1 - 12.7/90, SPS-10, SPS-12 radars, without cargo capacity
1990s, Kao Hsiung: - SPS-12 radar; + SPS-6C radar
1990s, many survived ships: - SO radar; + CS/UPS-60 radar
1990s, many survived LSTs: - (2 - 4) x 1 - 40/60, (4 - 8) x 1 - 20/70; + (0 - 2) x 1 - 76/50 Mk 22
Naval service: Chung Kuan was sunk by Chinese aircraft 10.1.1955. Chung Cheng wrecked 1.11.1957. Chung Shun wrecked 14.8.1954. Chung Sheng wrecked 5.10.1995 and was stricken beyond repair in February 1996.
