Project history: Former USN destroyers of Bristol class. Hsien Yang was transferred on loan from the USN. In addition the ex-Japanese destroyers Hatakaze and Asakaze were transferred to Taiwan in August 1970 to provide spares for the first four destroyers of Benson/Gleaves/Bristol classes. After the loss of the original Hsien Yang former Hatakaze was commissioned by ROC Navy under the same name.

Naval service: No significant events.
