Project history: After a building of 14 ships of "standard" type in the early 40s there was a question on a choice of new type of destroyer: the changed conditions of seawar demanded DP main guns and increase in number and calibre of antiaircraft automatic guns, that, in turn, conducted to displacement growth. The new design was ready in 1942. In comparison with predecessors, displacement has increased almost twice; it has allowed to place two fully covered twin turrets equipped with 120mm dual-purpose semi-automatic guns with an elevation angle 80°. Main guns were supplemented by six 40mm and eight 25mm MGs. In the first time superstructures and engine room received light splinterproof protection. At the expense of application of new more perfect boilers their number at the steam production which have increased by a third managed to be shrunk to two. It has allowed to fit one funnel and, thus, to free space on upper deck. As a whole the design has appeared very successful, but here with a building of ships Swedes were late: war ended and new destroyers were not so necessary.
Modernizations: 1949, Öland: - 3 x 2 - 40/60; + 7 x 1 - 40/60 M36
