Project history: Development of previous class with two main gun turrets fore and aft.

Protection: Belt protected amidships part between fore end of fore barbette and aft end of aft barbette. Main deck was connected by its lower end by slopes, this deck was turtleback form outside citadel.

Modernizations: 1901, Oden: - 4 x 1 - 57/26, 6 x 1 - 47/49, 2 x 1 - 25/32; + 10 x 1 - 57/52 K/55 M1889B, 2 x 2 - 25/32 K/35 M1887

1915, Oden; 1916, Thor; 1917, Niord: were reconstructed; two funnels were replaced by one broad, boilers were replaced by new ones, heavy mast was removed; - 2 x 1 - 57/52, 2 x 2 - 25/32, 1 - 450 TT; + 2 x 1 - 57/52 K/55 M1889B AA.

Naval service: Thor was used from 1906 as cadet ship, Niord from 1922 as barrack ship (but remaining main guns until 1928). Niord was eventually stricken in 1944.
