Project history: Last three of six armoured cruisers of Infanta Maria Teresa class ordered in 1889. First three ships were lost in battle at Santiago 3.7.1898. Building of remaining cruisers was delayed; they were completed only in 1902-1904 and strongly differed from ships of first series by armament structure.Cruisers were considered become outdated already by the moment of completion and before First World War beginning lost any battle value.

Ship protection: Belt was 300mm thick amidships and 150mm at ship ends.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: Cardenal Cisneros wrecked 28.10.1905 as result of navigating accident off Bay Meixidos.
