Project history: Iron-hulled, ship-rigged vessel with two funnels and a ram bow, originally armed with 30-68pdr SB. In 1890 the 229mm Armstrongs were mounted on the broadside with the 203mm Armstrongs in an upper deck redoubt on the broadside and the single Hontoria 180mm under the topgallant forecastle.

Ship protection: The armour belt extended from 4.0m above wl to 2.1m below. There was a CT in the redoubt.

Modernizations: 1869: - 16 x 1 - 200/12; + 4 x 1 - 254/14 Armstrong 300pdr MLR, 3 x 1 - 203/15 Armstrong 9-ton 180pdr MLR

1900: new armament consisted of 4 x 1 - 200/35 Hontoria M1883, 12 x 1 - 149/37 Skoda, 8 x 1 - 57/42 Nordenfelt, 4 x 1 - 47/40 Skoda, 4 x 1 - 37/27 Maxim

Naval service: Vitoria was non-seagoing from 1907, sold for scrap in 1911 and discarded in 1912.
