Project history: An iron-hulled ship-rigged vessel with one funnel and a ram bow. Later the 254mm guns were 18t Armstrong weapons mounted on the main deck; 4 of the 9t 203mm Armstrongs were also mounted on the main deck, with the other 3 on the upper deck and the 280mm Hontoria gun on the forecastle.
Ship protection: 130mm wrought iron armour protected all ship length from 2.3mm under wl to upper deck, it was tapered to 120mm at the upper deck and to 10mm at ship ends.

Naval service: Numancia was non-seagoing from 1909, became accommodation ship in 1912 and sank under tow to BU 17.12.1916.
