Project history: Blohm & Voss A-200SAN (Valour class) forships of programme Sitron was selected in 1998 and ordered in 1999. Option for building of a fifth unit was not exercised. 27x15m platform and 17x6x5m hangar can accommodate two Super Lynx helicopters but frigates carry only one. CODAG WARP mines 'COmbined Diesel And Gas turbine - Waterjet And Refined Propellers. Diesels are cross-connected and both propellers can be driven by one diesel on 20kts. Ships have not funnels, gas turbine and diesels exhaust out the stern.
Modernizations: None.
Naval service: Amatola in August 2010 suffered engine damage as a result of the ingress of water trough the exhaust system and was under repair till 2012.
