Project history: Contract to acquire the Sjöhunden was announced in 1995 for transfer in April 1996 for use in training submariners in Swedish waters. Submarine was refitted at Karlskrona till September 1997 and retained in Sweden along with Challenger until 2003. Three more submarines were ordered 31.7.1997, officially transferred 28.5.1999. After refit and modifications submarines left to Singapore. Conqueror commissioned 2.7.2000, Chieftain arrived 3.5.2002 and commissioned 25.8.2002, Challenger and Centurion arrived in January 2004. Before transfer submarines received new CCS.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: No significant events.
