Project history: Bought from the German Krupp Wks who built her as a private venture to attract the attention of the German Admiralstab towards underwater warfare. Arrived Vladivostok in August 1904 and operational from September but did not venture on any patrol.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: 30.5.1910 Forel' foundered under tow of submarine Bychok with empty batteries. She was salvaged later that day but never launched again. She was reclassified as auxiliary in 1910 and stricken 13.6.1911.
