Project history: Built for Amur flotilia. They were originally built as gunboats of Buryat class, but by experience of Russian-Japanese war they received new armament, strengthened splinterproof protection of magazines, machinery and a conning tower.

Naval service: With the beginning of WWI they were disarmed and mothballed. In 1918 all ships were captured by Japanese. Kalmyk, Kirgiz, Korel, Zyryanin were never repaired and in 1920s were broken up.
