Project history: Almaz (TsKB-5) began work on this large gunboat in 1967, but the prototype did not appear until 1975. The Soviet Navy then abandoned building specialist riverine craft in favour of air-cushion craft which could transport the army's self-propelled artillery and missile launchers.

Ship protection: No additional comments.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: No significant events.
