Project history: Armoured, seaworthy gunboat intended for service in Baltic Sea. Built under the 1891 program. In 1937-1939 she passed major repairs and modernization in which course the forecastle was lengthened, superstructure completely altered, and all 130mm guns were installed on the centre line, new fire control system was fitted.
Ship protection: Main belt (55 x 1.52m) had 127mm thickness abreast machinery (tapering to 76mm at lower edge), its thickness decreased to 102mm abreast CT and partly main gun, to 76mm between machinery and stern and to 70mm at short part fwd from main gun, fore end of belt was closed by 38mm bulkhead. Main 25mm deck was connected with upper edge of main belt and fore part of hull outside citadel was protected by turtleback-shaped 38mm deck. CT had 25mm sides and roof. 203mm and 152mm guns had 38mm protection.

Naval service: Krasnoye Znamya 18.11.1942 was sunk at Lavensaari by Finnish MTBs Syoksy, Vinha and Vihuri; she was salvaged 5.11.1943 and commissioned again 17.9.1944. 7.4.1956 ship was re-classified as TS; disarmed 13.3.1959 and converted to accommodation ship and sold for scrap 30.6.1960.
