Project history: This unmanned sweeper was conceived as a counter to new kinds of mine fuzing mechanisms which were entering service. It was designed to lay a line charge (cord charge), which would, in theory, destroy any bottom mine. The specification was completed in the summer of 1959, the preliminary design in I960, and the contract design in 1962. Special emphasis was laid on reducing the ship's signature, so that it could pass through an influence field while laying its charge. An attempt to develop a GRP hull failed, so the boat was built of wood.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: No significant events.
