Project history: Designation changed from small ASW ship (PLK) to guard ship (SKR) 19.5.1966.

The Project 35 machinery arrangement recalls that of the earlier Project 204 corvettes. The gas turbine arrangement aft precludes installation of a towed (as opposed to a dipping) sonar aft.
