Project history: The first large Russian torpedo boat, resembling a steam yacht in appearance. Also first seagoing torpedo boat in the world. The TT were on either beam just forward of midships, and pointed nearly ahead.

Modernizations: 1880: + 4 x 5 - 37/17 Hotchkiss

Naval service: Latterly used as a torpedo school tender.
